Northeast Park Hill Coalition
Northeast Parkhill Coalition
History of NEPHC
As early as 1993, a group of residents in five neighborhoods were approached by several funders asking them to create a neighborhood organization to provide resources to each of their respective communities. This organization called themselves the Denver Neighborhood Partnership. Each neighborhood (East Montclair, Northeast Park Hill, Sun Valley, Westwood, and Whittier) had three representatives on the council, and they awarded grants to community groups that wanted to enhance their respective neighborhoods.
At that time, funding was provided by the Adolph Coors Foundation, Anschutz Family Foundation, Hunt Alternatives Fund, Mile High United Way, Norwest Banks and the Piton Foundation. Northeast Park Hill Coalition was born out of this partnership in 1998. The Denver Foundation asked the residents what they felt would best benefit their community. They agreed that a neighborhood coordinator was what they needed. A lot of the residents were unaware of services available in the community, and the coordinator was to inform the residents of available services, provide links to residents and connect service provides to each other. NEPHC continues to serve in connecting residents to city services and informing residents of key issues impacting the community.
